Workstation Maintenance:

We install all critical windows updates, service packs and required driver updates.  We use our judgment when it comes to the optional updates.  All versions of Office are patched with the latest updates.  The newest Adobe reader is installed, as well as all Adobe reader / writer updates. The latest Java version is installed and updated.  We use several free spyware, trojan and malware scanners.  They are loaded, updated and used to scan the system.

We check internet explorer Active X components, browser helper objects, Winsock, the host file and programs that automatically start when windows boots. We check for free space on the hard drive, errors in the hardware device table, programs installed (using add/remove programs) that we recognize as problem items and review the application and system event logs.

Lastly, we delete all temporary files and de-fragment the hard drive.

The results are stored in an Excel spreadsheet and are summarized in your billing.  Actual spreadsheets are available as well.

The schedule for workstation maintenance is either once a month or once every two months with different charges for each plan. We only offer a less frequent 'on demand' maintenance at the current hourly maintenance rate.

Server Maintenance:

Server maintenance includes all of the workstation maintenance functions that are applicable as well as periodic validation of the backup success and centralized anti-virus control where installed. We will review you backup program logs to see if there is any problems or recommendations. (We reduced a clients backup from 12 hours to 5 hours with updated software and minor modifications). If installed, we review the Anti Virus console for station and update problems.

With servers we will connect two or more times a month to validate the server and patch updates.  We receive notices from Microsoft of updates and are prepared to install these updates shortly after they become available. This is completed off hours since reboots are frequently required after patching.

If your server is a Small Business Server your company web is offloaded (backed up) manually.  This allows for a speedy reload if the server changes and configurations are not exact.

If you have a Small Business Server or an Exchange Server, we do a brick level backup of all mailboxes at your request, included in the price. We monitor your database size (which can cause exchange to stop working), install exchange service packs and review exchange maintenance logs.

The schedule for server maintenance is ongoing, billed on a monthly basis regardless of the number of required updates and connections.

Network Documentation:

We produce a limited amount of documentation when supporting your workstations and servers.  Upon request, we can document your network (setup, topology, equipment) both on and offsite to different degrees.  It is important to maintain complete documentation for disaster recovery, failure replacement and expansion planning.
